Villa buy Joao Gomes with funds from record Rogers sale to Chelsea
Aston Villa signed Brazil midfielder Joao Gomes, 25, from relegated Wolverhampton on Monday, using part of the proceeds from selling Morgan Rogers to Chelsea in a British transfer record deal. Villa did not disclose the Gomes fee, reported at 35 million pounds. He follows the club's record buy Johan Manzambi, who cost over 50 million pounds from Freiburg.
