Japanese scientists find a 'third cell' that can rebuild hair follicles
Researchers at Japan's RIKEN Institute and Tokyo-based OrganTech have identified a previously unknown 'third cell' capable of fully reconstructing hair follicles, potentially opening a route to regenerative treatments for baldness and thinning. Published in Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, the finding matters for the roughly 80 percent of men and 50 percent of women who experience pattern hair loss.
